Salty & Sweet Reindeer

Strawberries, chocolate, and pretzels: what more could you ask for? Enjoy this strawberry treat in the form of a beloved holiday character!

Ingredients to make 4 reindeer:

  • 8 California Giant Strawberries
  • 4 California Giant Raspberries (for the nose)
  • 4 Pretzels broken in half for the reindeer antlers
  • Mini stick pretzels for the feet
  • Googly eyes
  • 8 oz of chocolate chips

Directions per reindeer:

  1.       Cut the stems off two strawberries.
  2.       Place the first strawberry stem side down, this will be the reindeer body.
  3.       Melt your chocolate chips. Microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds. When the chocolate is mostly melted and only a few tiny pieces remain, stop microwaving and set aside at room temperature; the last few pieces will melt in the bowl.
  4.       Dip the tip of a second strawberry into the melting chocolate for the reindeer nose.
  5.       Take your second chocolate dipped strawberry with the cut side facing up and connect it to the reindeer body with toothpicks.
  6.       Add a slice of raspberry to the nose to make Rudolph.
  7.       Cut or break a pretzel in half to form the antlers.
  8.       Dip “antlers” in chocolate.
  9.       Add to the top strawberry by lightly pressing it into your strawberry - Use your melted chocolate to hold it in place.
  10.   Add googly eyes!
  11.   Dip stick pretzels in chocolate and add underneath the bottom strawberry for feet.
  12.   Cut out triangles of strawberry for ears, stick on with melted chocolate.
  13. Be sure to refrigerate before serving!

How’d it turn out? Keep practicing until you create all of Santa’s Reindeer! Can you name all 9?
