Cindy: Self-Love in 2019



It’s that time of year when many of us are faced with the question, “What is your New Year’s Resolution?” I don’t make those because I know I will break them. Instead, I use January as a time to simply get back on track. For me, November and December are the two months every year that I break all the rules I live by the other ten months of the year in taking care of my body and soul. 

I already know to get enough rest, exercise and how to eat right; so I take this time to simply get back on the right track and not beat myself up over the fact I went way off course during the holidays. My weaknesses: cheesy appetizers, cookies, cocktails and those yummy dark chocolate-covered almonds in the See’s candy box.

Thankfully, I love berry smoothies every morning (that my husband makes for me) and raw almonds that are currently sitting on my desk for an afternoon snack. I will also go back to my hummus and carrot appetizer, and eat maybe just one cookie a week. No comment on the cocktails! 

To me, that is the perfect combination of self-love with some restraint and a little flexibility.  Thankfully, the days are slowly getting longer, and I have time for a good walk in the evening with my husband. We use this time to unwind just in time to watch the sunset and reflect on the day as we prepare for the next. I try to remember that each day is a new opportunity to take care of myself even if I didn’t the day before, so I start fresh and embrace the new day.
