Morgan's Holiday Traditions

The holidays usually entail traditions – tried-and-true family traditions that have survived the test of time, and the blossoming of new traditions made with friends, family or maybe even new loved ones that have joined in on all the fun.

Growing up, one of my favorite parts about the holidays was the one-on-one time my mom and I would carve out together leading up to Christmas. Usually two weeks before Christmas we clear off the dining table at my parents’ house, and prep for an afternoon of baking. This was always our special day just between us girls that we would share during the holiday season, and to this day, we still make time for it.

From classic sugar cookie cut-outs and fun decorating, to powdered-galore snowball cookies, to snicker doodles, to my new favorite California Giant blueberry chocolate chip cookies, and I can’t forget about the homemade toffee, we spend the day entire making it all (and yes... testing it all, too). We usually go out and pick up festive tin-containers beforehand and fill them to the brim with all our creations and deliver them to our neighbors, closest friends and family – and of course, we save a container for ourselves to continue to indulge in leading up to Christmas!

In a little over a week we’ll be sitting around the dining table, blasting holiday tunes, making a mess, crying in laughter (per usual) and catching up just the two of us before the family-gatherings kick off. These traditions – big or small - are what the holidays are all about. Cherishing the little things, relishing in those joyful moments spent with family, and taking a little extra time to bond with the ones you love.
