# Spiced Berry Holiday Sangria

As the holiday season approaches, it's time to elevate your gatherings with a delightful and festive beverage that will have your guests singing praises. Enter our [Spiced Berry Holiday Sangria](https://www.calgiant.com/recipes/spiced-berry-holiday-sangria/)—a vibrant drink that marries the rich flavors of dark red wine, apple cider, and a medley of California Giant Berry Farms' berries. Follow this simple recipe to create a drink that not only tantalizes the taste buds but also adds a touch of elegance to your festivities!
The star of the show is undoubtedly the simple syrup, infused with aromatic star anise, allspice, and cinnamon. This syrup adds a layer of complexity and warmth, making every sip a celebration in itself. The choice of California Giant berries brings a burst of freshness, and the best part is you can use a mix of your favorite berries.
To get started, follow the recipe below:
**Ingredients**
Simple syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 star anise
- 20 ea whole allspice
- 4 cinnamon sticks
Remaining ingredients:
- 2 cup cabernet (or other dark red wine)
- 2 cup apple cider
- 4 cups mixed California Giant berries, fresh or frozen (a mix of any berries work well here)
**Instructions**
- In a medium sauce pot, combine all ingredients for simple syrup and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Turn off heat and let steep 1 hour.
- In a large pitcher, combine wine, apple cider, and mixed berries. Let steep 1 hour.
- Strain simple syrup into wine mixture and stir to combine.
- Serve chilled!
