Have I mentioned my love of wine? Like L-O-V-E. Ryan and I usually unwine (ha!) every night by having a glass before dinner, as we talk about our day.
This mulled wine is perfect for the holidays. It just smells like Christmas. Even if one doesn’t enjoy wine, just having this simmering on your stove top as guests arrive will put everyone in the Christmas spirit.
And it’s absolutely beautiful. From the blackberries and oranges, to the star anise pods and cloves, it’s as pretty in a camping mug as it is a vintage wine glass.
This recipe is very easy to make. Simply pour red wine into a pan (I used a cast iron pan for a more dramatic effect :)), add 5 blackberries, six cloves, four star anise pods, 2 cinnamon sticks, and two juniper berries and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes. Make sure to not let it boil! Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar and orange slices from two oranges. Simmer until ready to serve!
