At California Giant Berry Farms, our farmers grow berries with pride and lots of love. This July, we celebrate National Blueberry Month by sharing the berry best blueberry tips. Plus, we’re in the kitchen making some of our favorite blueberry recipes!
How to Select Blueberries
When shopping for blueberries at your favorite retailer, choose berries that are bright blue in color with a powdery layer, that are firm to the touch. Blueberries don't ripen after they're harvested, so pick berries that are ripe and ready to eat!

Our growers hand-pick each berry and place them directly into the recyclable containers you pick up at the grocery store.
How to Store Blueberries
Blueberries can last up to two weeks if refrigerated and kept dry, so be sure to not wash until ready to serve. When you’re ready to eat, just rinse your berries under cool water and enjoy! Don’t forget, you can always freeze fresh blueberries. If you are unable to finish those sweet blues, toss them into the freezer and use them later for smoothies or baked goods.

Many of our blueberry fields are Bee Better Certified. This means that we take extra steps to promote pollinator habitats and mitigate the risks of pesticides that harm those habitats.
