Energizing Summer Snacks for Outdoor Adventures

Written by Cal Giant | July 11, 2018

Whether you’re off for a few months or you’re a weekend warrior, summertime puts everyone in a carry-free mindset and opens us up for amazing warm weather adventures! When heading to the beach, walking around a historic downtown or even taking time by your local pool, the only thing you want to worry about is getting up and going!

When all you need is a backpack loaded with your necessities and the perfect lineup of easy-to-make energy-packed snacks – it’s hard to not have an amazing day.

Here’s my typical day of adventure snacking lineup:

Breakfast: I like to freeze a bunch of fruit in a plastic baggy or sealable jar the night before a big adventure so that when I wake up, I can just blend all of the yummy berries I’ve frozen with my favorite milk and protein powder for an easy morning smoothie.

Morning Snack:  I don’t always need a morning snack but we can’t go anywhere without my boyfriend needing to eat every 2 – 4 hours so I like to put together blueberry energy bites. They’re SUPER easy to make and ideal when you’re on-the-go.

Midday Snack:  A handful of berries to help cool down from the day’s activities along with nuts for an extra boost of protein is my go-to afternoon snack.

Dinner: For dinner, we’ll either go out and enjoy the local cuisine, but I prefer enjoying a premade salad on the way home while my boyfriend and I sing along to whatever is on the radio.

Pro-Tip: Keep your salad cool and fresh all day long by packing everything separately in your cooler or ice chest. We’ve found this really cool refrigerated backpack that we carry with all of our food and beverages for the day to keep our hands free so we're ready for whatever the day brings.
