Beat the Daylight Savings Blues with these Sweet Recipes!

Share

Daylight savings is upon us and I don't know about you - but I am SO EXCITED. More time after work to be productive, get outside, run errands, workout or spend time with friends and family. There is one slight downfall to this Sunday's turn of the clocks - we're also losing an hour in the morning! That's right my morning folks - you may be a little sleepy the next few weeks as you adjust to the time change. But don't worry, we have some recipes that will turn that frown upside down, beat the daylight savings blues and fuel you up throughout for those after school or work activities!

First things first, if you'd rather still try and catch those 'Zzz's' you can set back your alarm a bit because breakfast is going to be EASY and on-the-go! You can whip up this nutrient-packed smoothie that looks ultra healthy, but tastes just like a treat. This Back-to-Basics Blueberry Smoothie is all things blue and green and oh-so delicious. This smoothie recipe is a whopping 5 ingredients and the quickest agenda item to add to your morning routine. It takes 5-minutes to make!

If you're like me and try to meal prep on Sunday's for the week ahead, these PB&J Energy Bites will be your JAM. You just pulse the ingredients in a food processor or blender, roll it into balls and store in the freezer or refrigerator until solid, and you're set with little bit-sized snacks for the week. Pack these into Tupperware and have them waiting for you at the end of the day when you're off to your after school or work activities or gym class for added fuel.

It can be so easy to toss the Chewy granola bar or candy into the lunchbox in the morning in a rush, but there are delicious, simple and healthy snacks to energize the kiddos all day long while at school, and this Blackberry Fruit Leather is the PERFECT go-to option. It's 3 ingredients, and lacks all the preservatives and added sugar one might find in a Fruit Rollup. Plus, in my opinion - it tastes much better! You also don't have to be a kid to enjoy these... I bring these to work all the time and can never have enough.

Last but certainly not least on my Daylight Savings menu is this Raspberry Banana Boost Oatmeal. I think oatmeal is so underrated these days - everyone enjoys a hot, hearty bowl of oatmeal in the morning. It's easy, quick, and full of all the best nutrients to get your day off to a great start - oats, raspberries, chia, you name it. The best part is? You can add whatever else you'd like to this scrumptious bowl of goodness, it's that versatile and sets a fresh and filling tone for the day. Save yourself time in the morning, sleep those extra 10-minutes and enjoy this oatmeal bowl on the way out the door.

So there ya have it! All my favorite ways to sweeten up Daylight Savings, because honestly, that extra hour at the end of the day can be SO productive and full of fun, and those early mornings don't have to be so daunting! These recipes are full of fresh flavor and fuel, and can add that added energy boost for that Zumba class after work, soccer practice after school or to get you motivated for that early Monday meeting.
