Have you ever wanted to make a tasty, homemade pie only to realize that it's not as simple as the instructions make it out to be?
Enter the galette! This baker novice's dream is ooey, gooey and easier than pie. Galette's are essentially a French take on pizza, originating from the Norman word "gale" meaning "flat cake." All that's required of a galette is to lay the dough out, put on your toppings and "make a pizza crust" by folding over the dough on top. Toss in the oven on a baking sheet and voila!
Trust me, there are no tricks for making this masterpiece, it's just that easy. Here are a few of our galette recipes to get you started:
Strawberries, blueberries and blackberries are a force to be reckoned with in this easy Berry Galette. Don't let the mess fool you, a rustic and imperfect presentation is on trend! All that matters is how it tastes. Let's not forget how #InstagramWorthy this recipe will be for any brunch or dessert!
Nutty, crumbly and sweet all in one bite! This recipe calls for any Cal Giant berry you prefer (we chose strawberries and blackberries) along with crushed almonds. My personal favorite ingredient is the crumbly dough bits on top! After being cooked in tandem with the berry toppings....trust me, this is one slice you won't want to share.
If there was ever a galette that you should bring to mom or grandma, it's this one. Pretty in pink and sweet as pie make the perfect duo for showing these ladies how much they mean to you. Plus, this recipe can easily be adapted to include their favorite berries.
