Oh, Chick-fil-A... How you have changed my life. This well-known chicken spot is the source of my weekly waffle fry cravings and the only place that I actually have a smile on my face after leaving the drive-through. You can't help but smile after you hear "My pleasure!" followed by that classic bright white and red bag.
Unparalleled service aside, unfortunately not all of us can handle the weekly drive-through budget or lifestyle (soccer mom van hogging the line, I'm looking at you!). That's why I'm sharing this Market Salad dupe recipe that will bring those addictive flavors wherever you are - even on Sundays!
Our version of a Market Salad is completely customizable to your preferences - add your meat of choice on top or add apples for an extra "crunch." Doesn't it feel good to skip the long drive-through line?
Romaine, cabbage and apples, oh my! These are just a few of the tasty greens that make the base of this scrumptious salad. Good luck hiding this from your coworkers, they'll be asking if you went to Chick-fil-A, and you'll be able to say "Nope, I made this beauty myself!"
This salad can easily be made ahead of time for those days when you're running late for work or want a lighter party salad to pair well with a glass of lemonade. Not only does this beauty of a salad look good in a glass bowl, it'll also make any tupperware stand out!
Pro tip: While this recipe does call for a 30 minute chicken marinade, you can get even more flavor by marinating it for 5 hours or overnight! If you're in a little bit more of a time crunch, you can also simply season your cooked chicken and toss it in. The vinaigrette still has ample flavor no matter how long the chicken is marinated!
Let's not forget the blueberries, strawberries, apples and toasted walnuts that could honestly stand on its own as a meal or piece of art. I definitely ate a bite (or two!) of each as I was tossing them into the bowl. How beautiful and colorful does this salad look?
If you're a fellow meal-prepping maven like myself, then this recipe is perfect for you. The serving size from it is 4-6 bowls! This means that you can have a burst of berry flavor and Chick-fil-A envy all week or you can use it as a side salad with any meal you choose.

Ingredients
For the chicken:
- 2 chicken breasts, butterflied
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 T onion powder
- 1 T garlic powder
- 1 T smoked paprika
- 2 T molasses
- 1 T kosher salt
For the salad:
- ½ head romaine
- ½ head red leaf lettuce
- ½ head green leaf lettuce
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup diced apple
- 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1 cup granola
- 1 cup toasted walnuts
For the vinaigrette:
- ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- 20 turns fresh cracked pepper
Directions
- Whisk together all ingredients for the chicken marinade, pour over chicken in a shallow baking dish and cover with plastic wrap. Marinate for 30 minutes, or for 5 hours to create an even better flavor!
- After marinating, drain and let chicken rest at room temperature for 20 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over high heat. Grill each side of chicken breast for 3-4 minutes or until it gently bounces back when pressed. Let rest for 5 minutes and then slice thin. If making ahead, chill chicken.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together all ingredients for the vinaigrette.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss together the lettuce, cabbage, and vinaigrette (use as much vinaigrette as desired - can do less/more than what the recipe makes).
- Divide the lettuce among 4-6 bowls (depending on your serving size).
- Top each salad with granola, berries, apples, blue cheese, walnuts, and sliced chicken.
